Swartklip Refuse Transfer Station (SRTS)
About
Where distances to landfill for internal and external refuse collection service providers are too far to travel, they may make use of a transfer station to offload waste. The waste is then compacted into containers and transferred via rail or road to a landfill site.
The general waste from Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha is taken to the Swartklip facility for compaction into bulk containers. The containers are transported to Vissershok for disposal. No recycling takes place.

All drop-off facilities will be closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
